{sing to me baby!}

So my beautiful friend Heidi's birthday was last Friday-- so on Saturday a bunch of us got together at the Karaoke Cafe in Murray and had a BLAST!

I only got to sing 2 songs before we had to leave but people were constantly singing (hence why we only got to go twice in 2 hours). And the greatest part was it was $5 and you got a free soda drink with it!

Def. a new favorite date night of mine-- although Pierce didn't sing, I know he enjoyed himself too!

{life as a preggers: week 28}

Baby Emmett,

I have to say that this was a great week! I am over coughing from the Chlorine incident and think we both will be A-OK! I got a free pre-natal massage and pedi from the people at Treehouse and I LOVED being able to lay on my stomach-- this is huge deal because I haven't been sleeping well since week 18 because I was so used to being on my tummy. We had a pretty fun weekend and Dad and I will have to make every date night count since it might be awhile to do those after you are born. Keep the growing up and I we are getting closer and closer until your arrival!

Love Mama.

PS. Here are a few pictures of Mom and Dad as babies and toddlers-- I wonder which features you will get from us!

{pregnancy accident}

So I tried blogging this a few days ago and low and behold as I went to load “one last picture”—the whole blog post deleted!! It normally auto-saves every 15 mins but didn’t this time….grr!

Anyway I just wanted to try and (quickly) recap the incident I had at the pool last Monday. I have been going to Treehouse for Water Zumba and Aerobics 3-4 times a week with my mother-in-law Liz. We were finishing up our class on Monday and I was literally going to go get out and shower, when a filter/vent on the floor of the pool erupted with a bunch of hot water and chlorine gas that I was RIGHT in front of. I inhaled a gross, smelly and almost thick air and immediately started coughing and feeling my throat close off. My eyes also started to burn a little bit and so I managed my way to the side of the pool with help from one of the swim ladies and the instructor Jenny pulled me out and yelled for everyone else to get out of the pool. There were probably 25 people in the pool overall but I got the worst of it because I was directly in front of the vent.

I walked down to the office and they sat me down and I just couldn’t stop coughing. I managed to tell Jenny to call Pierce and then some other lady called 911. Pierce arrived right after the EMT’s did and they had taken my blood pressure and tried to give me some oxygen but I still couldn’t clear my throat. They decided I was putting the baby under too much stress and needed to take me to the ER. Pierce followed us in the ambulance and called my mom to come meet us and bring me some clothes (yes I was a huge pregnant lady in a swimsuit) and then called his mom who was up in Spokane with my brother and sister in law.

Funny side note: the EMT mentioned something to Pierce about Cardiac Arrest and so Pierce said that to my mom who then called to let my dad know….my dad came rushing into the ER bawling, thinking I had a heart attack!! Haha!

Anyway they kept telling me in the ambulance to catch my breathe for the baby and tried giving me some saline water through the oxygen mask which helped a bit but I was annoyed that they kept trying to tell me to breathe because that’s ALL I wanted to do as well.

I got the the ER and they gave me a nebulizer with some oxygen and medication and suddenly my throat cleared up but my chest was still really really tight so they continued to give me oxygen for a few hours and that helped. I also had to have an EKG and chest x-ray. Everything looked pretty well except chemical burns in my throat and chemical poisoning.

The main concern was Emmett, they thought with all the stress I was under- I would put myself into labor. The women’s center came and monitored him but before they got there, the ER nurse pulled out the Doppler to get a heart rate and for about 20 seconds she couldn’t find it…..it was the LONGEST 20 seconds but then a strong little heartbeat came and we joked later he was dodging the Doppler haha! My OB had been out of town the previous week but had gotten back that morning from Hawaii and came in to check on me and Emmett so that was such a relief!

Overall I have to say that I am so thankful to have had a fairly easy and healthy pregnancy and that this was a freak accident type of thing that won’t probably happen again. We are so thankful for all our family and friends who called and texted and came to the hospital to visit and check up. Pierce’s mom knew Pierce would be stressed and since she couldn’t be there, sent one of the “grannies” to come be there for him- which I think helped him a lot! We also had neighbors, grandparents, my parents, my visiting teacher, a few swim ladies and a family friend who is a nurse come and see me while I was there—I think the ER nurses were annoyed we were breaking the visitor number lol.

Later that week I had notes, treats and visits from friends, Pierce’s lacrosse team and even the Brighton lacrosse team. We felt the love for Pierce, me and Emmett! Thank you all.

{Lacrosse So Far...}

So this is Pierce's second year coaching as the Head Varsity Coach for Jordan High. His team is doing awesome this season and haven't lost a pre-season or tournament game. We hope that his team will take state this year, especially because we don't know yet if this will be his last year coaching. I really enjoyed going down to Vegas a few weekends ago for a tournament for them and here are a few pictures I captured with my fancy camera!

Can't wait for all the upcoming games.....Go Diggers!

{sweet summer}

Ok so this might be the first post I've done that's not 100% pregnancy focused. It's still related, because these are things that I would LOVE to be wearing post-baby this summer!

I think my mother-in-law would be proud, because a lot of these picks have COLOR something I normally steer clear from (aka gray and black are my fave color schemes).
Workout clothes, Lululemon things of course-- and I heard on Pinterest this quote that explains workout clothes perfectly: "I wear black while working out because it's a funeral for my fat". Awesome! I hope to get back to working out once the baby comes and hoping we can get a jogging stroller to help aid.
Accessories- because I feel like you can never have too many scarves, necklaces or hats!
Ah!! I love all these shoes-- I have an obsession with flats, I decided as much as I would love to be a heels kinda gal, with summer and being a new mommy, sandals and flats will be my best friend!
I am obviously loving bright colored jeans! I already have a maternity pair that are bright blue and I love them...here are a couple others that just make me feel like summer!

{pregnancy: the past few weeks}

This was week 25, 26- we are now into the 27th week which is awesome and scary all rolled into one!! I missed week 25 because we went down to Vegas for a LAX tournament (I will post some pics) and then last week I snapped this picture and yes, I realize I've totally become one of those people who take photos in the mirror- it's all to show off baby e though! We are officially at 6 months and although the next 3 months seem so far away- I bet our guy will be here before we know it!

Baby Emmett,
I think it's time for you to be introduced to these crazy people who will now be your parents (ah, I feel like we are still babies ourselves)!

Meet Mom & Dad:
We will pretty much be the coolest people you will know for the first 5 years of your life (well maybe the grandparents will trump us even then too). We are silly and love spending time together and I know you will have plenty of laying in bed, watching TV nights to come with us.

Meet Dad:
Emmett, you may never know how lucky you will be to have this guy for a daddy. He will teach you all sorts of important life lessons: how to be silly, basketball, D. Wade, teasing mommy, causing mischief, lacrosse, respect, loyalty, the gospel, priesthood, sports, causing mischief and of course all about Miami Heat.

Seriously though Emmett, I wanted to have your middle name be after this guy because he is my best friend and I think he's pretty awesome but maybe one day, you will honor this guy and name one of your children after him. If you turn out to be half the man your daddy is- I would be one proud mom.

Meet mom:
Mom has all sorts of hobbies and likes, the main one: shopping! She also likes food (not just a pregnancy thing), the puppies, taking pictures of the the puppies, daddy, dance, taking the puppies on walks, cuddling with the puppies, Survivor, crafting, listening to music and did we mention the puppies!? She will probably take 2327299473920183749 pictures of you and cherish every single one.

She can't wait to meet you and hold you and dress you up because hello! shopping is her fave!

Meet Jack:
This little puppy guy is the most cuddly, funny dog you'll ever meet. He is gentle but can be super hyper so I know you and him will get along in the next few years. He loves exploring every rock, bush and tree outside and will make a great friend to take on walks.

Meet Izzy:
Izzy will be your second little mama at home, she is very very gentle and well mannered. She loves balls and will love when you can throw them to her. She also loves treats-- so we will make sure that you get to give her some to get into her good graces. I know she will want to be by your side and protect you like her own and I look very forward to that sweetness.

These dogs will be your best friends and will love you as much as mommy and daddy!
There you have it! Our little but growing Walker family. We cannot wait to officially add you!
