{Emmett: 11 Months}

Emmett is now 11 months and 3 days... Time is flying by and this little man gets more hilarious and grows every day. 

Emmett in the last month:

- got his first ear infection :(

- crouches down instead of falling to sit

- stands constantly & tries to use anything to pull himself up

- can stand a few seconds by himself, until he realizes and freaks out

- turns on and off the light switch

-points
-cruises around the ottoman, couch & his play table

- now does the "devil" look which we find so funny- probably will come to bite us in the butt

- can clap, just won't do it all the time

- loves pulling the books off of shelves

- loves turning pages & flap books

-bangs all his toys together to make noise

-loves water babies

-loves to swing outside & go down the slide at the park

{Emmett: 9 months}

I really wish I was better at blogging things other than Emmett's month-to-month, but the reality is, I feel like there's not a whole lot to blog about and let's be honest, there is not much alone time to blog with a baby around the house!

Emmett at 9 months:

We haven't had his 9 month check-up yet but I'll add those stats when we do!

Emmett now:

-rolls around crazily! 

- scoots backward on tummy with his arms

- loves TV still

- eating more and more baby foods, trying some puffs and a couple solids

- still sleeping like a champ although he has been having little nightmares lately, breaks my heart

- makes noises with his mouth and then bats his hand back and forth on his lips to make more sounds

- gives long hugs (such a sweet boy we have!)

{Emmett: 6 & 7 Months}

Emmett has grown by leaps and bounds these last two months! I love this little boy so much, such a good baby and fun personality. I thought I would have to learn a ton of patience being a mom, but with Emmett, it's not tested very often! 

6 months stats:

- 18 lbs 1 oz (75%)

- 27.5 inches (90%)

- 90% for head circum.

(Emmett 6 months)

In 6 & 7 months, Emmett:

-started solids; loves everything we've tried

- moved into his highchair!

- practiced sitting up

-wears 9 month clothing for length

- still naps 2-3 times a day

-mastered sitting up
-got his two front bottom teeth & more coming

-loves toys and throwing them from his highchair

- cuddles his sock monkey

- uses the stroller forward facing now!

- rolls over constantly

-celebrated Thanksgiving, Christmas & New Year's!

{Emmett: 5 Months}

My baby boy is 5 months old. It's so bittersweet. He is in such a good, easy & fun stage but I miss the newborn stage!

Emmett:

- tries to hold his own bottle

-learned how to put his binky in his mouth (most of the time)

- wants to sit up so badly! 

- rolls over both ways but only rolls to the right, is this normal?

- starting to get teeth, I think I can see some white

- eats Oatmeal or Rice Cereal & is loving it
- possibly starting an attachment phase, starts to cry if other people hold him...don't know if it's attachment or teething issues

He also celebrated his first Halloween! It was so fun to dress him up and take him around to show him off!

Emmett: 4 Months old

I now get the saying "Growing the weeds". 

It's because they grow so quickly and because usually you say it on something that you don't want to grow. 

Emmett is a weed.

He is now 4 months old! 

I cannot even believe it! 

He is still such an amazing baby, I don't know how we got such a mellow kid!

 Like, today at his Dr. Appt. The Dr was checking him out and he was just giggling and laughing at her. 

So cute. 

Then the shots came, the nurse laid him on the table and he is just smiling at her so big. 

She gives him the shots and he cried for maybe 3 seconds and then smiled again at her!! 

Honestly, what baby does that? 

His stats for this Dr appt were awesome: 

Weight: 15 lbs 3.5 oz (75%) 

Length: 26 inches (90%)

Head: 43.1 cm (75%)

He is one tall baby boy! The Dr. even said he is the length of a 6 month old! 

She cleared us for rice cereal so we might start that tonight!

Emmett now can:
- sleep the whole night in his crib

- grab toys better

- hold his head up and turn his melon side to side

- rocking tummy time and can lift himself pretty well even though he hates it

- laugh!

- grab his feet like a monkey

- talk and babble CONSTANTLY

- sit up in the bumbo or propped up against something

 

{Emmett's First Night In His Crib}

This little man slept in his own crib last night & he did awesome! We put him down around 8:15....He woke up around 3:30 and was a little scared I think. I went in there and he was looking around getting familiar with the place so I grabbed him and fed him since he hadn't finished his night bottle before dozing off. Then he put himself back to sleep at slept until 8 this morning! Our baby is growing much too quickly!

{Emmett Jeffrey: 3 Months}

Emmett has been growing by leaps and bounds this month!

He might be the perfect baby. I would like to think it's from my parenting skills but I know it's more his personality!

Emmett this month:

- Emmett NEEDS bath time and bedtime routines to function. Weird but true. We learned the hard way one time with skipping bath....

- After bath, bottle, book... we put him in his bassinet and he will lay there silent for 20 minutes and then fall asleep.

- He also sleeps for 10-11 hours at night now. Yes, you read correctly. Perfect baby, I'm telling ya. 8:30 pm- 7:30 am. It gives mom and dad much needed together time!

- He is officially teething. It might still be a while until we see any teeth actually break but he is loving gnawing on his fingers, his Sophie giraffe sometimes, and E's fave: mommy's fingers!

-He constantly squirms when he is awake. Arms and legs fly everywhere & he kicks his blanket and socks off constantly!

- He loves sleeping on his tummy-- now before any mommy's comment on how that is a no-no. He can lift his head enough to not suffocate and I only allow it for naps.

- He is recognizing mommy and daddy more and more and even smiles at other people now too. One of the happiest baby boys!

{Emmett's Blessing Day}

We blessed Emmett at Jeff and Liz's house on Sunday, August 5th 2012. It was a close intimate group of family members and a few friends. Everyone was a great help and brought loads of treats and dessert. Pierce did an amazing job and the spirit was so great.

Emmett is a special spirit in our home. He teaches us patience, love and mercy. We've learned more about ourselves and each other the last two months than 2 years of marriage. I appreciate Pierce more and I love watching Pierce and Emmett. Emmett makes us laugh and cry. I know that the gospel of Jesus Christ is true and that I get to be with both Pierce and Emmett for eternity. Such an awesome promise from my Heavenly Father. Emmett makes me love deeper and more fully love life.

{Emmett: 2 Months}

Emmett is now 2 months old! I cannot believe how fast the time is flying. In his 2nd month, here are a few milestones he now does:

- drinks 3-4 ounces at a time, sometimes 5 if he is going through a growth spurt
- he sleeps 5-6 hours at night (mommy's favorite milestone)
- smiles!!! (mommy's real favorite milestone)
-babbles & I swear he laughed the other day!
- kicks and plays his piano toy for about 20 minutes
- falls asleep at night usually by himself

-his hair started to fall out so we ended up buzzing it so he didn't have the mullet you'll see below

At his 2 month appointment on July 30th, his stats were:

Weight: 12 lbs 6 oz (75% percentile)

Length: 23.5 in (75%)

Head Circ.: 15.9 (50%)

(this would be cuter if I could figure out how to rotate it....)

{Bath Time}

Emmett takes after his daddy and LOVES bath time. Daddy gives him one pretty much every night as our bedtime routine.

{Emmett at 1 Month}

I realize that my blogging has failed since we've had our little guy. I've pretty much taken a picture on Instagram everyday though so I am trying to capture all his first few months. I cannot believe that he will soon be 2 months old! Our good friend Karey gave us these cute tie stickers that are from 1 month to 12 months so it will be so fun to capture how Emmett grows and changes in the next year! My goal is to jot down a couple things about Emmett in that month, I can't really remember the first month so by going off of instagram photos & such, I am jotting a few specifics.

Month 1:

- Emmett was a pretty alert little guy from the get go.

-Emmett is a tough little baby.

- He was 8 pounds at his 2 week appointment!

- He loved to be held! He still cries if we don't hold him.

-He has a kung fu grip & loves to hold fingers.

-He loves the sound of the blow dryer & it helps him go to sleep.

We celebrated his 1 month with my dad & Mindy-- they brought over Nothin' Bundt Cakes and although Emmett couldn't enjoy it- we will take every excuse to eat those!!
